Lopscotch

Six rabbit friends enter a game. The game is real. The world is broken. The only exit is transformation.

In the airborne cities of Rabbitkind, six restless friends sign up for a pre-release test of Symmetry Break, an augmented-reality game that promises an adventure unlike any other. The moment they finish their personality tests and log in, the game becomes terrifyingly real: they wake up in the Blur, the surreal, dangerous expanse that has covered their world for four thousand years, and discover that they are not merely players, but the latest team asked to finish a transformation left broken since long before any of them were born.

Symmetry Break was never supposed to look like this. Under ordinary conditions it is a known, public, and celebratory process, undertaken consciously by a whole kind through six representatives who channel the Values needed to remake their world. Rabbitkind’s version became monstrous only because the first attempt was sabotaged at the moment of completion, an event now called the Anomaly. That sabotage left the planet suspended in an unfinished state, created the Blur, and forced the Havens into existence as emergency shelters that Rabbitkind has long since forgotten were ever emergencies at all.

Six rabbit friends are cast into a surreal landscape to transform their world via an intricate game that was derailed long ago.

To survive, the Lopscotch 6 have to learn what their Values can actually do, face the ways those same Values can distort under pressure, build safe zones, establish communities, catalogue an unstable reality, and reckon with a system that may have been rigged by failure itself. All the while, they are hunted and obstructed by the enigmatic force known as the Scotch, who has blocked every attempt at Symmetry Break since the Anomaly, for reasons that turn out to be far more personal than anyone expects.

Lopscotch is a story about friendship, transformation, and the terrible work of breaking a broken world open: change is not an escape from contradiction, but the deliberate remaking of it. The only way out is through.
