Symmetry Break

Symmetry Break is a transformative process meant to evolve a world from a primitive or uniform state into a more complex, developed one. It works by remixing a world’s components into new forms, eliminating dead uniformity in favor of unique manifestation, and resolving the tensions that have built up inside it, releasing excess energy so the world can settle into something more stable.

Under ordinary conditions, a Symmetry Break is not a secret survival game inside a hostile, anomalous world. It is a known, species-wide transformative process: difficult, public, and celebratory. A kind undertakes it consciously, through six representatives who each channel one of the six Values and guide their world into its next state. A typical Symmetry Break is expected to succeed in a single attempt.

Rabbitkind’s version became abnormal because their first attempt, four thousand years before the Lopscotch 6 were ever recruited, was sabotaged at the point of completion. That sabotage, known as the Anomaly, left the planet trapped in an unfinished transitional condition called the Blur, and turned every later attempt into an automated, secret rerun conducted over a world that should never have remained broken this long.

The Six Values
Swerve, Verity, Design, Bridge, Shield, and Enigma: the six forces every Symmetry Break team channels.
The Six Titles
Wild Card, Thinker, Planner, Heart, Protector, and Puzzle-Maker: the LS6’s shorthand group roles.
Mechanics
Bubbles, cataloguing, Expert, DecoSolu, the Moon Server, and the Tower that leads to the world’s core.

Every Symmetry Break team must contain exactly one player for each of the six Values, which is why the personality test used to recruit the Lopscotch 6 exists in the first place. Players are, in a real sense, the quanta of those six Values: through their actions, they channel these principles to reshape reality itself.
