Geography
Captiotia is a large island continent in the northern hemisphere. Its climate generally grows colder with latitude, and it is commonly divided into three broad geographic regions: North, Central, and South Captiotia.
- North Captiotia
- A rugged subarctic region of boreal forest, mountains, glacial valleys, icy coasts, tundra, and volcanic islands, with major ecological preserves, maritime towns, alpine communities, and geothermal and hydroelectric districts.
- Central Captiotia
- A temperate region of rolling forests, grasslands, agricultural plains, river systems, wetlands, and Malachite Bay, including the capital district and major urban, agricultural, educational, logistical, and administrative regions.
- South Captiotia
- A climatically diverse region with arid interiors, Mediterranean and warm coasts, and humid subtropical areas, home to major scientific centers, solar infrastructure, aerospace testing regions, and international gateways.
Political Divisions
Captiotia is divided into 24 prefectures and many districts. A prefecture is a province-like division with devolved power and a role in proportional representation in the Commonwealth Senate; a district is a more local division with devolved power to organize local society, services, infrastructure, councils, and daily administration.
The District of Malachi occupies the Malachite Peninsula and serves as the main geographic seat of central government, separate from the prefecture system. It includes high-density districts, pedestrian lanes, cultural areas, public administration, and varied urban forms.
Prefectures differ by climate, settlement pattern, history, regional culture, infrastructure, and economic emphasis, though Captiot development policy has substantially reduced sharp town-country and core-periphery divisions, so no prefecture is defined by a single industry alone.
