A relatively new constituent of the GP, and Victoria’s former employer. Its public image presents cleaning up dangerous space debris, providing jobs to the planetless and non-specialist masses, recovering useful materials, maintaining safe space lanes, and offering opportunity to people without elite access.

Structural Function

BGI gathers dirty scrap, valuable minerals, old tech, salvageable infrastructure, and other materials that can be repurposed to strengthen the GP warfleet and support Star Rush expansionism. It often absorbs people like Victoria: potentially skilled, useful, and capable, but not assessed as sufficiently docile or politically reliable for prestigious institutional pathways.

Space junk scavengers who work for outfits like BGI are known, somewhat derisively, as “junkies.”
