Disco is named because early post-Scattering humans found disco records and used their steady four-on-the-floor beat as a temporal regulator for repeated actions, like a worksong. Over time, the entire planet developed a culture of step-by-step efficiency associated with 120 BPM, 4/4 rhythm.
