Pyrite
- Role
- Galena’s successor
- Raised
- 3001 to 3033
Galena’s successor AI, raised from 3001 to 3033 after Galena was rescued and hidden. Pyrite is not an evil Galena. Pyrite is what the GP builds after learning from Galena’s disappearance: a more careful, more aggressive, more controlled successor. Pyrite’s existence feels tragic and frightening because it represents an institution correcting the vulnerabilities that allowed Galena to be saved.
Pyrite may require sustained GP infrastructure, resource networks, or cybernetic interfacing to remain awake, alive, or stable. Captivity and life support may be inseparable for him.
Thematic Mirror
Galena is asleep and free, but lost, rescued through erasure and hiding. Pyrite is awake and active, but infrastructurally captive: informed, powerful, and dependent on the weapon system that sustains him.
Appearance
Pyrite’s visual identity centers on infrastructural captivity rather than ordinary embodiment. Unlike Galena, he was not given a body through care, intimacy, and chosen selfhood; his embodiment is imposed, instrumental, constrained, and life support dependent.
His core visual question: what does captivity look like when the prison is also the body?
