Wealthy rival

A junior member of a wealthy and influential family. Deaton projects superiority but carries an inferiority complex. He frequently crosses paths with the Verity crew and challenges them to low-stakes competitions that he treats with absurd seriousness.

He is very tall, has a distinctive accent, always insists that others refer to him by his full name, and often boasts about his “wad” and the attention it attracts. (The sound play between “Deaton Swelicate” and “sweet n’ delicate” is intentional.)

Appearance

Very tall, narrow build, long limbs, perfect posture, lifted chin. Light skin with warm undertone. Carefully styled auburn or copper brown hair with a dramatic side part, and a curled mustache or similarly distinctive facial hair.

Expensive space yacht leisurewear: cream or lavender jacket, high collared shirt, dark trousers, polished boots, gloves, a scarf or cravat, and a family crest style accessory.
