Locations

Petty’s Pizzeria is set in modern-day Sterling, a fading lakeside city in the semi-libertarian and post-colonial Continental Union, centered on a plateau district with a view down toward downtown’s three meager high-rises and the expansive lake bordering the city. Sterling is ordinary, aging, and full of places built for futures that did not fully arrive. The Continental Union and Captiotia share the same world, Kepoa, on opposite sides of the equator: Captiotia sits in the northern hemisphere, the Continental Union in the south.

The Petty apartment sits several walking-minutes east of Skyline Plaza. Sterling Plateau Secondary School is between the apartment and the plaza. The teens and adults share a morning route before splitting off, and walking and biking, not driving, are central to the family’s everyday geography.
