The Anomaly
Rabbitkind once lived in a stable world. The current divide between the Havens and the Blur is not natural to it. Rabbitkind initiated their first Symmetry Break in order to evolve that world into a more complex, developed form, and the process reached its final stage successfully, right up until it was sabotaged by Punished Casey, arriving from a doomed future branch, in the event now known as the Anomaly. The full sequence of how that sabotage came to happen belongs to the Scotch’s own story.
The Anomaly halted transformation entirely and created the Blur: the unfinished, unstable transitional state that has covered the planet ever since. Some of that first Symmetry Break team were killed outright by the Anomaly. Others sacrificed their own Value and life energy to create the floating Havens, protecting as much of Rabbitkind as they could from the newly hostile world below.
Four Thousand Years of Failed Attempts
For 4,077 years after the Anomaly, new teams were sent into the Blur to try to complete Symmetry Break. Every one of them failed, usually stopped by the Scotch, subtle interference from MoE, or both at once. The Lopscotch 6 are the 1,701st team to try. Only three players, from a single earlier team, are said to have ever survived an actual encounter with the Scotch.
Rabbitkind, in the Havens, remembers none of it: not Symmetry Break, not the first attempt, not the Anomaly, and not the sacrificial origin of the cities they now call home.
